I’m LIVE again.

Wow, I have been having trouble with my service provider and wasnt able to get onto my website, but it seems to be working again…as you can see:)

I have been up to A LOT of stuff. Here’s the run down.

Date night with ma man

we had been putting off date night for a while because we had so many other projects on the go, but this weekend, we got errrr done. We played cards at the trailer with the camp ground people. It was lots of fun. Next date for October is pistal shooting in Stittsville…woot woot:)

Writing my memoir

I have been writing stories for a few years now with the intent of making a book out of them, but I was struggling with how to make it into a book. I took some training, but it felt like they were mostly about promoting my book, and i will use those later, but right now, I need something to help me get clear on the writing and…I FINALLY found a good book. Its called “How to write a memoir in 30 days. I am on Day 4 when i should be on day 7, but that’s because the stories take a bit of time and…i need to be in the mood to write. After all, it’s my life story. However, I am not rushing as it WILL get done! But the most important part is…writing, which i am always doing. So, not to worry. Once I have the stories all together, I will share some of them with you, but for now, this is the new project I am working on. I have decided to write about the journey to writing this book on my blog. So, if you are thinking of writing a memoir, keep your eyes peeled.

Having fun – making food using mix recipes and left overs

Every Sunday, I go grocery shopping, but before I do, I usually go eat Pho soup and write my meal plan. However, this summer I have slacked because again of other projects, like our…NEW TRAILER:). It is soooo amazing and HUGE. Its a 2 bedroom. So, now when my girls weekend comes around, no one will have to tent it…unless they want to.

BUT….I’m back on menu planning because there was way too much eating out and..it was eating at my budget.

For tomorrow, it’s Slow Cooker pot roast…a la Tina🙂

Top sirloin – size? put 3 fists side by side and that’s how much.LOL. I never really look at the size, but rather the price and will I be able to get 3-4 meals .

1 pkg onion soup mix

1 1/2 cup homemade chicken broth

2 cups of water

1/4 cup of left over red wine…it smelt vinegary:(…what a waste.

1/2 onion

2 carrots

Directions

  • Cook the onions in a pan first. I used nothing but water. Ocne cooked, put aside in a bowl
  • Put the meat in the frying pan…sear each side as much as you want. I did it for 2 minutes each.
  • Slice carrots and put them at the bottom of the slow cooker before you put the meat in.
  • Put the meat on top of the carrots.
  • Poor the homemade chicken broth over the meat.
  • Poor the onion soup package over the meat.
  • Poor the 2 cups of water in the slow cooker too.
  • Poor the left over red wine beside the meat and not over it. I don’t want the meat to taste like wine.
  • Put the cooked onion over the meat.
  • Press the slow cooker button program to low. I like to let it cook for 8 hours.
  • Oh ya, don’t forget to turn off the stove after you cooked the meat
  • Mine will be ready for dinner tomorrow. Mmmm, I can already smell it cooking…mmmmm

Let me know how yours turns out.

Goal #7 – De-clutter my house – week 1

If you could only see my house right now. It’s a mess! I have clothes sitting on the floor, laundry piled up, dishes that need to get done, and there are files all over my desk, receipts everywhere. I have a Service Ontario bill to pay for my sticker for the car, which I’ve been trying to do all day, but for some reason I can’t get through the website. I think it might be because of Mozilla. Most government departments use Internet Explorer when they create they sites and they don’t test it with other search engines. My goal this year BEFORE August as advised by my friend and Intuitive Numerologist Laura Young said that I need to de-clutter everything in my life from my space, clothes, and relationships. She never mentioned anything about Ma Man…so I think I’ll keep him.lol

OK, so Goal #7 is to de-clutter my house, but that’s a big order. I have sooo MANY things to do. In order for me to not freak out, I am going to start with one pile at at a time, but before I do that I need to write down which rooms I need to work on and what do I need to do.

I tried to add the image, but it wouldn’t work, so I have attached a link to it here.

If you want to learn more about what Laura does, she sends out a monthly newsletter with really great information to help you move forward. If you want to be added to her email, simply email her at Laura Young lbaird@istar.ca. Or if you ready for a reading, email her and if you wouldn’t mind letting her know that you heard about her from me, that would be great. Thanks.

Goal #4 – Date ideas for this week

I wrote an article last month called “Dates, I don’t have time for that“. I made a list of date ideas that I wanted to do and well, I haven’t done a lot of them. Mostly because I forgot about them and, some of them are not really what I want to do anymore. Oh and some are summer…God I miss summer. I am so not a winter person. I am trying to do things this winter, but it’s not my favorite time of year. However, this week I am planning to create a new list of date ideas that are geared towards things I know we would both enjoy, or at least be willing to try. I am going to make them into to cute cut outs and add to my Date night box. I also left blank ones as HE likes to be spontaneous. Ya, we’ll see.

If you’re looking for places to find ideas, here’s a few I found that might help.

Are they new years resolution or goals?

2017 is fast approaching and I plan to write WAYYYYY more often, but…not post them all. After all, I have to keep you entertained and don’t want you to get sick of me. I have been reading up on how to become a better writer and one of the ways is to…just write. So, that’s what I’m doing, but I want to write about things that interest me like setting goals. Every year I try to set goals that are realistic, but sometimes I mess up, like the one I just tried to do. I set out to not drink alcohol for 7 days. Well, I tried and…lasted 2 days. I like the taste of a good beer. However, I have stopped drinking red wine, which my Man doesn’t believe. He thinks it’s a phase, but I don’t think it is. I actually don’t crave it like I use to when I would start to cook. It’s only been 2 weeks, but still. that’s huge because I would drink a glass or 2 with dinner every other night. So, my new year is off to a good start.

So, this is the time to start setting new goals, but also remembering and celebrating the ones I reached from last year.  Here’s a link to my bucket list of what I said I would do before I die, so in 2016 this is what I actually accomplished.

I decided to set small goals for 2017 and here they are.

1) Convince the man to take another trip south in February
2) Organize more fun with friends
3) have my business make $1,000+ a month
4) go on 1 date a week with my man = 52 dates
5) exercise a minimum of 3 days a week
6) read 1 new book every 2 months (that one might be tough)
6) volunteer for a fun charity that supports local women business or the Boys and Girls Club
7) De-clutter my space i.e. clean up my office files, get rid of clothes and shoes I no longer wear (so, if you want some stuff, text me)
8) decorate my home for under $500, includes a new couch:)
9) Do at least 3 things on my bucket list http://lafemmeottawa.com/i-have-120-things-on-my-bucket-li…/
10) and…love myself no matter what happens this year.

What are your goals for 2017?

Here’s to a wonderful 2017!

Adults only hotel Riu Republica..was it worth the price?

My man and I went on our annual vacation down south. This year we tried an adults only hotel. It’s called the Riu Republica in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I was told it just opened in June. It was a lot of fun because I didn’t have to cook or clean, but rather just enjoy our time together which we did. Here’s a summary of our week’s adventure.

Was there enough activities?

Yes. The entertainers had games for everyone, BUT…they were too long to wait to play them. They would try to get 10 to 20+ people to sign up. So, you would get one turn and then wait another 10 minutes to play. My man and I did win at darts. He came 1st and I came 2nd. However, this is normal in most resorts. So, if anyone from resorts are reading this, can you please do a max of 10 people. While we want to play, we also want to enjoy the sun.

There was a fun game called Slip and slide that the tourists decided to do. They used one of the tables in the pool, added TONS of water to it and encouraged everyone to get on. Well, most of us did and it was a blast. I did hear though of someone tearing out their belly button ring because there was groves in the table:(

2 days during the week they had a foam party.  The pic above is from the event.  They played great dance, rock, and some country music. So, that was great.

What was the room like?

One word…HUGE!!! We had a king size bed…OMG, I loved having my own side of the bed. I would have to roll over 3 times just to get close to him. So, you can imagine how amazing my sleep was.lol

There was plenty of water bottles, alcohol, beers in the fridge, towels and pillows.

However, constant humming outside. We were facing east, which was what we wanted because we wanted sun in the morning. However, we couldn’t sit out there because the noise actually hurt our ears.

What was the weather like?

That’s the interesting part. It rained every morning and at least 2 times during the week, but these were HEAVY rain. I took a video to show you, but it’s on my other camera. So, it will have to wait sorry.

What about the food and drinks?

OK, so here’s where I’m a bit disappointed. There was 1 buffet, a snack place, and 3 restaurants we could eat at. The buffet had good food and quite a variety, but the restaurants all had buffet too and not open every day. Only the steak house had sit down menu that you chose from. Everywhere else was buffet. I really wanted a sit down dinner and something different. After all, that’s what it said was provided in the description.

The drinks were good. We had beer most of the time, and mimosa in the morning. One of the bar guys Leornardo made wonderful dry vodka martini’s with LOTS of olives for us. One girl at the pool gave me a shot with coffee cream and chocolate sauce…OMG, that was tasty. We tried the Mamajuana. YACK!!! That stuff will grow hair on your chest, even if you’re a woman!

What about the beach?

Ah yes the beach. The beach was soft and easy to walk on. With the crazy weather i.e. wind and rain it was hard, but we walked 40 minutes each way. We saw the Hard Rock hotel that we walked in to see. It’s HUGE. Not a place for him and I. We like smaller and more outside. This hotel felt like it was a shopping mall. It’s good for some people, but not for us.

So, would you go back?

We payed over $3600 for the 2 of us. It was fun, we met some very nice people, and there were no kids. So, would we go there again? No! The prices doesn’t make up the difference for things that are important to me like restaurants, quiet time while sitting on the balcony. Last year we stayed at the Grand Palladium Punta Cana and it was 2 times the size and cost us $2400. Oh and there was no one selling local artifacts which we liked to see during the week.
