Update to my bucket list

#32 – Perform in a play that helps women take charge of their future and laugh watching it

About 10 years ago, I saw the play at the Bronson Theater in Ottawa with a friend named Heather whom I no longer hang out with, but not in a bad way, but rather we were different and didn’t have the same interests, or so I think. She is smart and likes to try new things. She suggested we go see this play called The Vagina Monologue and thought, OK? What is it about? The title was a bit provacative. I don’t want to give it away, but lets just say, it was great. I felt the emotions of the women when they were reading their lines. I was in awe of them, standing up there, representing things that need to be said. I wanted to do that, but I was afraid…to stand up and take part in a play. Not because of the stories but…because I wasn’t good at memorizing lines. so, I never tried…until this week.

The Vigina Monologue is coming back to Ottawa in February 2018. I read it online and…they were accepting auditions. Soooo, I tried and I got accepted!!! I will be taking part in the VDay movement.

Look, if you have a dream or something you want to do but are afraid…try. You have nothing to lose. Seriously. What could be the worst thing that could happen if you tried something. I want to know. In fact, I want you to write it in the comments and, I will try to help you reach it.

I did my first public speech

Talk about Nerve racking. I had practiced for 2 months almost everyday. I was at the gym on the treadmill and I would be reading my speech. I would be walking outside and…reading my speech. Last weekend, my man and I went to Syracuse for the weekend and I read my speech while he was driving. I should have it memorized by now, right?

The night of the event I get there early as suggested by the organizer Linda Babulic, who is in this pic with me on the left.

I didn’t know who was going to be speaking first as she was only going to tell us that night. Well, I was the first. I was thinking, man, I wish i was second or something, but then another speaker said to look at it that you don’t have to worry about being better, you are the first..or something like that. And I thought, ya, she’s right. So, I accepted to be first and boy was I glad because…it was nerve racking. To think if I had to wait for others to get up there and see how much better they are then me? All I can say is I am glad I was first.

I start to speak and guess what? After practicing almost DAILY…I forgot parts. Come on!!! I practiced for 2 months!!! Well, I tried to remember as much as I could and, I think I did OK. I am just waiting to see what the video looks like, but they haven’t posted it yet.

I said in my speech that to get what you want in life you have to push through your fear. Well, here’s me pushing. I did my first speech, now I have to PUSH through my frigging procrastination to get my memoir book done. Why is it taking me so long???

Here’s to those who are trying to push through their fear of public speaking. I have one word of advice…do it for you..not for them! If you do it for you, at least you will be proud of you. There will be people who will not say positive things and that’s OK. Its just who they are. Just be YOU!

Ran out of salad dressing and found a great one to make with 3 1/2 ingredients

I made spaghetti and have Cesar dressing, but I don’t like cesear and my favorite Newmans Lemon Garlic is alll gone:(  So, I need to make something fast. Naturally I went to Google and found a Classic Vinaigrette. I don’t like a lot of ingredients, but i like flavor and this one has the ingredients I really like.  I would like to have it for at least 6 servings and this one I don’t think will last, so, here’s what I changed:

  • 6 tablespoons red wine vinegar,
  • 4 teaspoons Dijon mustard (too much Dijon can take over the taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, and pepper to taste.
  • 1/2 cup olive oil

Start with the red wine, then the dijon, and add the salt and pepper if you want, and then poor the oil in while whisking it to make sure it blends. Or you can do like me, poor it all into one container and shake it. Voila salad dressing el Tina style!

To find the original and more salad dressings, click on the Food Network link here. If you have other easy dressings, pleeeeeease share them. While I love surfing the net, I much prefer getting them from my wonderful friends.

Swapping your winter tires to summer – Make sure to look in the bag!

Today is Saturday, April 8th and it’s a beautiful day, so Ma Man was going to swap the winter tires to the summer ones, when he pulled the tires out of the bag, he noticed that they looked the same as the winter ones. He wasn’t sure they were the right ones and asked me to come and see them, when I saw them I said “those are not my tires”.  He said to go check the receipts for when we bought the car as it had a photo on it. Well, I argued with him and said they didn’t give us a photo, but what he was referring to was the image from the Kijii ad.  I went upstairs and located my car file, which is another important lesson…have a file folder for each item that might need fixing i.e. car, mattress, furniture, taxes😊 so you know where it is if you need in the future.

I found the receipts and it had a picture of my beautiful rims that were originally on my car. My Man suggested I bring the tire they gave us and go to Canadian Tire and ask the Manager to see if they are in the back. So, I went..on a Saturday and…no manager. They asked I call him on Monday to discuss.
